3D Scanning
Step 1: The Digital Blueprint
Every sculpture begins with high-resolution scanning. We capture the raw, unedited landscape of the form, creating a high-precision digital blueprint that preserves the subject / object identity in 0.1mm detail.
Casting
Step 2: The Thermal Threshold
Sculpting with 150°C liquid sugar requires absolute timing. The material is heated to its water evaporation point and hand-cast into custom silicon moulds, where it transitions from a glowing fluid to a glass-like solid.
Preservation
Step 3: Engineering Permanence
Once the 150°C liquid sugar has hardened and cooled the process of preservation begins. with layers and layers of dialectic resin combined with polyurethane for shore strength and durability to seal against humidity. Sugar can withstand up to 50°C ambient temperature therefore humidity is the main challenge to overcome.
