"I make objects in the medium of sugar. I wanted to make an as close to life copy of a human being in sugar so I used 3d scanning and printing to make the moulds for the sugar to pour into, in order for the audience to have more of an experience of the material in another form. The form of a human in such a material as sugar brings up many interpretations, but the one I was looking for was the buddhist definition of attachment of mind".
I am - Series
Along with the sugar works are also my latest portrait series entitled “I am therefore I think” which is a collaborative series exploring the notion of a deeper self through interviews with many different kinds of people. I sat together with Actors: Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids), Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones), Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire), Spanish Artist: Okuda San Miguel and Boris a Berghain resident Dj among others. Each portrait comes with in depth interview about the most transformative times in each persons life. Ive tried to translate these experiences into portrait sculptures and paintings.
